kubben > "TGIF!!! Let's party!!"
(11-7-08)

It's been a long week. Time for a beer.

And don't worry, no beverages were wasted in the making of this shot. Brier isn't old enough to drink yet, so she just gets to lick the empty bottles. But she really does like those empties.
kubben > The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
(8-16-08)

I've lived in Omaha for 25 years, and I've never gone to the Offutt Air Force Base Open House and Air Show. They hold it almost every year, and this year I decided it was time to remedy that. So I braved the bumper to bumper traffic, and thousands and thousands of people, and I went.

OMG!!!!! IT WAS FABULOUS!!!

I had a heck of a time picking a photo. I could have gone with the B-2 Stealth Bomber, or the F-15 Eagle, or the Heritage Flight. But in the end I picked this one of the Thunderbirds. I'll post a link to my gallery of today's shots when I get done with them. I have lots.

I got there early enough to check out a few of the planes they had on the tarmac for people to see. I heard they had about 100 parked out there, but I only checked out a few. Then I found a seat on one of the little bleachers and pretty much stayed there. I thought I would only stay a few hours and then head out, but I ended up staying all day. The Thunderbirds weren't until 3:30 and since I was there, I definitely wanted to see them. And all day long they had planes flying demos. It was so, so, so cool!!!

Did I mention that I had a great seat. The planes flew right in front of where I was. And they almost always did photo passes so you could get great shots. It was a beautiful day. And the whole thing is free. THANKS to Offutt Air Force Base for doing this every year. I just might have to go again next year.
kubben > "Come on, get me..."
(1-14-09)

I tried doing water drop pictures again last night, but they were a dismal failure. So you get Brier. It's way too cold to play outside these days, so we have to play inside. And she was literally bouncing off the back of the couch last night.

It's supposed to warm up into the 30's and 40's next week, so we should finally be able to get outside to run off some energy next week. We're starting this morning at -15 F (-26 C), and that's without the wind chill. I'm sure there are a lot of you in the same deep freeze. Brrrrr....
kubben > Happy Holidays from my "family" to yours.
(12-24-08)

Getting a true group shot of my "kids" is next to impossible, so this is the next best way to get them all together in one shot :).

I'll try to spare you from any more pet pictures, at least for the rest of this year. And Brier should be happier for the next week or so, as the temps are supposed to get back into the 30's and even maybe 40!

Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday. Merry Christmas.
kubben > Zorinsky sunset.
(8-22-08)

I decided to go for a Friday evening sunset paddle tonight. I haven't been out in my kayak in about 3 weeks. And I almost decided not to go because of the large cloud bank to the west. But I went anyway, and paddled under the clouds for a while, but then they broke apart and it was a lovely sunset.
kubben > It's a big climb to the top.
(7-28-08)

I should have been out scraping, priming, and painting tonight, but it was just too darn hot and humid. Maybe in the fall I'll get back to it :). So I sat and got some shots of this little guy instead.
kubben > "I don't know, which way do YOU think we should go?"
(10-31-08)

What a beautiful day. I can't believe it's the end of October, and it was 70 degrees. So Brier and I went out for a kayak ride. This was just the second time she's been out, and she did well. It will most likely be the last time we get out this year, so I hope next Spring she remembers that this was fun.
kubben > Hey, that's my shoe!!!
(9-26-08)

Look who is visiting this weekend. I'd like to say that this is just a trial run, and that I'm still thinking about it...but I have a feeling she's going to be staying. (Sorry Mom and Dad.) I can't officially adopt her until after she is spayed next Wednesday, so technically I'm fostering her for a few days, and I could still change my mind, but...she is awfully darn cute.

So far, Mike, my neurotic cat, is the only one having issues. River, Forest, and Jazzy all seem to be fine with her so far. And I have fostered puppies in the past, so I know that Mike will come around...eventually.
kubben > Water column, enhanced.
(1-15-09)

This is one of the few water drop shots that I got in my feeble attempts at trying this. I only managed to capture a few, and the focus was not great on the ones that I did catch. So I still need to work at this some more. I think I need more light.

Its warm out this morning, 7 degrees F. I might just leave my coat home today. Well, maybe not, but it's sure better than yesterday.
