I ran over to the zoo tonight to see how the baby tigers were doing. They are way too cute. More pictures here.

OK, today's a twofer. One minute the sun is shining and it's a beautiful evening, and then all of a sudden storms pop up. The weather guys promised we wouldn't get anymore storms until Wednesday. And since they missed the tornado early Sunday morning, now they are all over this.

So I saw on TV that storms were moving in, and I had to step outside to see. And what I saw was a beautiful sky. The sun setting as the storm was moving to the north was kind of cool. So you get another shot for today. This is looking to the west from my driveway.

I dropped by the zoo after work tonight and caught this guy showing off for the ladies.

I went out for birthday drinks after work with a friend, whose birthday is tomorrow and a coworker, whose birthday is Thursday, and a couple of other people from work. So I didn't get much for photos today. I spotted this out behind the bar where the parking lot was. I liked the red door.

The stars were shining brightly this morning so I knew the sky was clear, and I headed out at 5:30 AM just to get over to this lake. I had read/heard that this was the place to go for sunrises. They were right. The sun on the mountains and the reflection on the lake was stupendous. I love this place.

I kayaked on DeSoto Lake today. It was a beautiful day, but quite breezy, as usual. There were a few times when I had serious doubts that I was going to make it back. I'd paddle as hard as I could and get nowhere. I got drenched, the boat was full of water...but I made it, and now my arms feel like they have lead weights on them.

I did find a group of 4 pelicans, and managed to float closer to them than I thought I would get. They usually take off as soon as they see me in the distance. But this one finally got annoyed enough and took flight. Which was good for me :). I got my PIF shot and then I let them be.

I went over to the Wildlife Safari Park today. There is a group of 5 pelicans that always hang out in the same spot right beside the road. It was a cool day so they were all pretty much curled up with their heads in their wings. It's kind of neat being able to get so close to them. And they don't move. If they are in the road, you have to drive around them.

I was thrilled to catch this guy with his catch of the day. I was floating around in my kayak back in the cove and I spotted this guy. I watched, and took pictures, of him for a while. A few times I floated too close and he would fly a little further away. But I had a feeling he was wanting a fish down in these weeds as he kept going back over there. So I just waited, and sure enough, he went back over there and got himself a fish. And I got to watch the whole thing. It was so cool watching that fish go down his throat.
